A group of Michigan State players attacked at least one Michigan football player in the Michigan Stadium tunnel Saturday night after Michigan State beat Michigan State in the Big House.
ANN ARBOR, Mich. - A group of Michigan State players assaulted at least one Michigan football player in the Michigan Stadium tunnel Saturday night after Michigan State beat Michigan State in the Big House.
Video posted by multiple reporters showed a dozen Spartans players with at least one Michigan player in the tunnel after the game.
"Two of our players got tackled. I saw a video, it's 10-on-1. Pretty bad," Harbaugh said before meeting with Michigan AD Warde Manuel.

"I'm going to let our athletic director go to the authorities. It seems pretty open and shut. One of our players has a nose injury, he may have a broken nose. It's very unfortunate," Harbaugh added.
"For the other team to take a player and do what they did is completely and utterly unacceptable. It shouldn't be a rivalry, not how it should be remembered. I will leave it up to law enforcement from now on," Manuel. he said
Michigan State coach Mel Tucker said he did not know what happened in the tunnel and would not comment.
"I know it was a hot game. Things got heated. We're trying to get our guys into the locker room. We're going to have to figure out what happened," Tucker said.

"There was no provocation. this may justify the behavior we see in the videos. Competition can be intense, but it should never be violent. One of the videos featured several Spartans, including Itaihon Brown, Zion Young and Angelo Groce, attacking Michigan defensive tackle Jayden McBeer.
Both teams' coaches, Michigan State's Mel Tucker and Michigan's Jim Harbaugh, tried to direct their players to their respective locker rooms. The trash talk started seconds into UM's 29-7 win over MSU and a delayed but respectful handshake between Tucker and Harb included trash talk and shoving between MSU and UM players.

Michigan State Football Players Charged With Assault After Brawl With Michigan Players
The Associated Press reports that UM Deputy Police Chief Melissa Overton said an investigation was launched in collaboration with MSU police, the Michigan athletic department and the football programs.
The Big Ten released a statement following the incident: "The Big Ten Conference is aware of an incident tonight at Michigan Stadium b/w Michigan State and Michigan student-athletes. The conference is gathering information, will carefully review the events and will take the appropriate measures."

With Video: Police Investigate Postgame 'assault' Involving Msu, Um Players
Several players were involved in a postgame brawl in the locker room tunnel following No. 4 Michigan's 29-7 win over Michigan State on Saturday in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Video captured by the Detroit News showed one of two alleged incidents between the teams, in which Michigan State players pushed and kicked an unidentified Michigan player as they walked onto the field.
"Two of our players were assaulted," Wolverines coach Jim Harbaugh told reporters. "I saw a video, it's 10 to 1. Pretty bad. I'm going to let our athletic director, Ward Manuel, go to the authorities."
Manuel was seen talking with Big Ten Commissioner Kevin Warren and local officials after the game.
"What happened after the game was completely unacceptable," said Manuel. "I spoke to the commissioner and he's looking into it. The police are also looking into it. We'll leave it up to them, but we don't have to interact after the game. It's not like another team took a player and did what they did. It's completely and utterly unacceptable. We'll let the Big Ten and enforce the law, but there shouldn't be competition. It shouldn't be remembered that way."
Police Investigating Scuffle After Michigan And Michigan State Game
Harbaugh said one player has a nose injury from the altercation, but did not name anyone involved. Michigan State coach Mel Tucker released a statement Sunday morning after saying he's still not sure what happened Saturday night.
"As Spartans, our program is committed to maintaining the highest level of athleticism," Tucker wrote in a two-part statement on Twitter. "While emotions were high at the end of the game at Michigan Stadium, there is no excuse for behavior that puts our team or opponents in danger. Michigan State president Samuel Stanley called the Spartans' actions "unacceptable" and said Tucker would be held accountable to those involved Sunday afternoon.
"I am deeply saddened by this incident and the unacceptable behavior displayed by members of our football program," Stanley.
